Beating the Poker Maniac

When you sit down at the poker table, whether it is at a land-based casino or an online casino, you are very likely to run into a maniac. This is the player that raises, re-raises and constantly puts pressure on. How do you go about beating this type of player?

The first thing you have to do when playing a maniac is not get frustrated. It is really easy to lose your cool and make mistakes when going against the maniac. Players that allow themselves to become frustrated with maniacs end up losing. The key when playing against a maniac is to know when to make that stand. Marginal poker hands are not good enough when playing the maniac. You have to be patient. Wait for your big hand and then take the maniac for everything you can. This strategy requires discipline and a cool head but it works. Wait for those Aces, Kings, Queens, or even Ace-King.

The maniac is tough to play against because they don’t follow any logical strategy. The best way to go against the maniac is to not try and read too much into them. Just realize that the maniac is going to be wild and out of control so learn to expect that type of play.

You can beat the poker maniac if you show patience and wait for your big hands to strike. Once you get that big hand you can play back at the maniac and take him down.
