Martin Jacobson Wins 2014 WSOP Main Event and Ten Million

The 2014 World Series of Poker main event was won by Swedish poker professional Martin Jacobson. It was an amazing run by Jacobson who started the final in eighth place among nine players. Jacobson was able to overcome Jorryt Van Hoof and Felix Stephenson as for the first time in main event history, three Europeans finished in the top three spots.

The 2014 World Series of Poker main event began back in July with 6,683 players putting up the $10,000 entry fee. It took seven days to get down to the final nine which then returns to the Rio in Las Vegas in November to determine the ultimate champion. Seven of the November Nine were poker professionals including Mark Newhouse who made it to the final table of the main event in back-to-back years.

Jacobson stole the show, becoming the first Swedish born player to win the main event of the World Series of Poker. It was the first appearance at the final table by a Swede since 2006. Jacobson won $10 million and the WSOP bracelet. "This is what I played for, this is all the mattered to me," Jacobson said about the bracelet.
