When you are playing a rebuy poker tournament you really need to have a strategy of how you are going to play. In a rebuy tournament there are going to be players doing a lot of crazy things so you have to be prepared and know what you are going to do.

When you first start playing a rebuy tournament there is going to be a lot of wild and loose play. During the first few levels where players can still rebuy, there will be players going all-in on a regular basis. What happens during this time is that people play a lot of hands they would never play in a regular poker tournament.

You have two choices when you play a rebuy tournament with your strategy. You can be a maniac and try and get a lot of chips by going all-in a lot and taking chances. If you have the money to rebuy you can just take a lot of shots. That is your first strategy option.

The second choice in strategy is to play tight but at the same time aggressive. You will be able to play premium hands very strongly and oftentimes get rewarded in a big way from players who are just throwing their chips around. The problem with playing tight is that if you don’t get premium hands you will have no real chance to win because other players will be mixing it up trying to build a big stack.

The bottom line is that if you really want to have a good chance to win a rebuy tournament you have to be willing to take some chances and try to build a big stack.
